A Halloween display that a Hayes family set up for local children was knocked to the ground and stamped on by a group of teenagers on Halloween night.

The figure was a life-size Frankenstein animatronic standing on the driveway of a house in Hayes Park, UB4. It was damaged on the evening of Saturday 31 October.

What the footage shows

Doorbell camera footage shared with UB1UB2 by a Hayes Park resident shows a group of about four teenagers stopping outside the house.

One of them runs onto the driveway and flying-kicks the figure to the ground while the others laugh. A second then runs in and stamps on it.

The group then runs off down the road as the homeowner shouts after them.

The footage was filmed at night and shows a quiet residential street of semi-detached houses, with cars parked on driveways and along the kerb.

A favourite with families

Neighbours said the display had been a hit with families on the street over Halloween. One mother shared a video of her young daughter visiting the figure earlier that evening, before it was damaged.

Halloween decorations on front gardens and driveways have become a common sight on residential streets across west London. For many families with young children, they are part of going trick-or-treating close to home.

It is not known how badly the animatronic was damaged, or whether it can be repaired.

Police and reporting

The Metropolitan Police has not confirmed whether the incident was reported, and no arrests have been announced.

Hayes Park is a residential area in the north of Hayes, in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Policing there is the responsibility of the Met's West Area Basic Command Unit, which covers Hillingdon, Ealing and Hounslow.

Deliberately damaging someone else's property can count as criminal damage. It can be reported to the Metropolitan Police online or by calling 101, or 999 if a crime is happening or someone is in danger.

Anyone who recognises the people in the footage, or who saw what happened, can contact the police on 101. Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
