A large tree limb came down near Northolt station on Sunday afternoon, 25 October, as Storm Boelo brought strong winds across London.
Footage shared with UB1UB2 shows that the fallen branches blocked the pavement and about half of a residential road close to the station at around 3.20pm. Part of the tree fell onto the back of a parked car.
No injuries have been reported from the Northolt incident. The street is lined with houses, and the footage shows broken branches and leaves scattered across the pavement and the road.
A day of wind damage across West London
The Northolt incident was one of several reports of storm damage across the area that day. Earlier on Sunday morning in Uxbridge, roof tiles and bricks reportedly fell from a building onto a van.
Storm Boelo arrived over the weekend of 24 and 25 October, soon after Storm Austen. The Met Office had warned that it would bring strong and damaging winds through the weekend and that disruption was likely. On the South West coast, gusts reached 76mph at St Mary's Airport on the Isles of Scilly and 71mph at Culdrose in Cornwall.
Fallen trees disrupted roads in many parts of the UK. In north London, a man in his 20s reportedly died when a tree fell onto his moving car in Mill Hill at around 12.40pm on Sunday. Paramedics are understood to have pronounced him dead at the scene.
Staying safe in strong winds
In strong winds, people are advised to stay away from trees, scaffolding and loose structures, and not to stand or park under trees where they can avoid it. Pedestrians should keep well clear of fallen branches, even after the wind has dropped, because damaged trees can still shed limbs.
In the London Borough of Ealing, which includes Northolt, trees on the street that have fallen or become dangerous can be reported to Ealing Council. If a fallen tree is blocking a road and putting people in immediate danger, or has brought down power lines, call 999. Damaged or fallen power lines can also be reported on the national power cut number, 105.
Drivers whose vehicles are damaged by falling trees are usually advised to take photographs, note the exact location and contact their insurer. If the tree was on public land, they can also contact the council.
Up-to-date weather warnings for London and the South East are published on the Met Office website.
