Two boys arrested after man injured with machete at Cowley Recreation Ground

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with stab wounds after police were called to reports of a fight in the Uxbridge park. Boys aged 15 and 17 were arrested.

Two teenage boys have been arrested after a man in his 50s was injured with a machete at Cowley Recreation Ground in Uxbridge.

The Metropolitan Police were called to reports of a fight at the park on Friday 25 September. Officers found a man in his 50s with stab wounds which, according to the Met, were consistent with a machete.

He was taken to hospital. Police said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Arrests

Two boys, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

Police have not said whether either boy has been charged. Because of their ages, neither can be named.

Pictures taken at the scene show officers and a police dog searching the park and the area around its railings. Two large blades were also photographed. Police have not said whether either is the weapon used in the attack.

The park

Cowley Recreation Ground is a public park in Cowley, on the southern side of Uxbridge in the London Borough of Hillingdon. Families, dog walkers and local sports teams use its open grass and playing fields.

The attack happened on a Friday when the park was in use, and people who live nearby and visit the park have been left concerned.
