Armed policing in Hertfordshire

Armed officers in Hertfordshire are provided by a firearms unit the county shares with Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire police. Armed officers are sent out for many kinds of calls, including reports of a weapon, planned operations and help for other officers. Seeing them at a scene does not always mean a firearm was involved.

Hertfordshire Police have been approached about the incident. The force has not yet said what officers were responding to.

Contacting the police

Anyone with information can contact Hertfordshire Police on 101 or through the force's website. In an emergency, always call 999.

If you want to stay anonymous, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
