Four police officers were taken to hospital after a crash involving two police vehicles at a busy junction in Hayes on the evening of Tuesday 29 September.

The collision happened just before 9pm at the junction of Lansbury Drive and Balmoral Drive. The two cars, one marked and one unmarked, are understood to have been on their way to an incident when they crashed.

Paramedics were sent to the scene and assessed five officers. Four were taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are understood to be neither life-threatening nor life-changing, and it is understood that no members of the public were involved.

Junction closed

Footage shared with UB1UB2 just after 9pm shows a silver hatchback with heavy damage to its front, pushed up against the back of a marked police car. Several more police vehicles were at the scene with blue lights on, and officers were managing the area as people gathered nearby.

The junction, close to the Rocky's takeaway and the row of shops on Lansbury Drive, was taped off and closed to traffic for a time. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use other routes while emergency services dealt with the scene.

One person who said they saw what happened claimed the crash came after a police chase of around 10 minutes. The accounts that came out later describe the vehicles as two police cars responding to an incident, and police have not said publicly that a pursuit was involved or what the incident was.
