Police put a cordon across Wesley Avenue in Hounslow on the evening of Thursday 15 October. A witness said it came at the end of a police chase.

Footage shared with UB1UB2 shows police tape across the road at around 6.45pm. Blue lights were flashing further down the street and several police vehicles were parked inside the cordon. Neighbours stood on the pavement and watched.

What witnesses said

The person who filmed the scene said a BMW SUV had reportedly been driving laps of the street with police following it. They said the chase ended when the BMW crashed into a Lexus.

No collision can be seen in the footage, which was filmed from behind the police tape. The Metropolitan Police has not publicly confirmed what led to the cordon.

The police have not confirmed whether anyone was hurt, whether anyone was arrested, or how long the road stayed closed. They have been approached for comment.

The area

Wesley Avenue is a residential road of mainly terraced houses in the TW3 part of Hounslow. The road has a park along one side. At the time, residents were advised to avoid the street while officers were there.

Police chases in London are run by the Metropolitan Police. When a chase ends in a crash that seriously injures someone, it is usually referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. Nothing suggests that has happened in this case.

Contacting the police

Anyone who saw what happened on Wesley Avenue, or has dashcam or doorbell footage from that evening, can contact the Metropolitan Police on 101 or online. Call 999 in an emergency.

Information can also be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
