Car left against barrier on West Cross Route near Westfield White City
A silver hatchback came to rest against the concrete barrier on the A3220 in White City on Tuesday morning, 20 October. Traffic moved slowly past it in the wet.
A car ended up wedged against the concrete barrier on the West Cross Route in White City on the morning of Tuesday 20 October.
Footage shared with UB1UB2 shows a silver hatchback at an angle across the inside lane of the A3220 at about 11:30am. Its front is pressed against the central barrier and debris is lying on the road near it.
The road was wet at the time. Queues of vehicles can be seen moving slowly past the car in the lanes next to it, close to Westfield London and the high-rise flats beside the route.
What is known
The police have not confirmed how the car came to be against the barrier, or whether anyone was hurt. It is not known whether any other vehicle was involved.
Nothing in the footage shows emergency services at the scene at that point. It is not clear how long the car stayed there, or whether any lanes were closed while it was recovered.
Anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, can contact the police on 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.
A busy route
The West Cross Route is a short dual carriageway between the Westway (A40) and the Holland Park roundabout near Shepherd's Bush. It was once the M41 motorway. It is now part of the A3220 and is managed by Transport for London.
The road carries heavy traffic heading into central and west London. It also serves the White City junction, which was built to give access to the Westfield shopping centre.
Because the route is short and has few exits, even a minor incident in one lane can quickly cause queues back towards the Westway and Shepherd's Bush, especially at busy times and in wet weather.
Drivers can check current road disruption on the TfL website before they travel.
