Piccadilly line shut from Heathrow and Uxbridge to Cockfosters all weekend
No Piccadilly line trains are running anywhere on Saturday 31 October or Sunday 1 November, Night Tube included, while TfL upgrades the line. Passengers going to Heathrow are told to use the Elizabeth line.
The whole Piccadilly line is closed this weekend. Transport for London (TfL) has suspended all services from the start of Saturday 31 October until the end of Sunday 1 November.
Every station on the line is affected, from Heathrow and Uxbridge in the west to Cockfosters in the north. TfL said the Night Tube is included, so there is no overnight service on Friday or Saturday night either.
In West London that means no Piccadilly line trains at Hounslow West, Hounslow Central, Hounslow East, Osterley, Boston Manor, Northfields, South Ealing, Acton Town, Ealing Common, Park Royal, Alperton, South Harrow, Rayners Lane, Ruislip or Uxbridge.
How to get around
TfL is advising people travelling between central London and Heathrow to use the Elizabeth line instead. On the Uxbridge branch, Metropolitan line trains still run between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, calling at the stations the two lines share.
Replacement buses are running along the closed parts of the line.
There is more disruption on Sunday. The Elizabeth line is running a reduced service, and Hanwell, West Ealing and Acton Main Line stations are closed. Southall, Ealing Broadway and Hayes & Harlington have six trains an hour.
That leaves fewer options for people in Ealing and Hounslow on Sunday, and anyone with a flight from Heathrow is advised to leave extra time and check TfL's journey planner before setting off.
Why the line is closed
The closure is part of the Piccadilly line upgrade, which is preparing the railway for a new fleet of air-conditioned trains. TfL has been carrying out works and testing on the line through 2026.
This weekend's shutdown came straight after three days of disruption earlier in the week. From Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 October there was no service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge, although the Heathrow branch kept running.
The line has had several part closures this year. Over the summer these included a weekend with no service from Cockfosters to Uxbridge in June and a weekend with no service from Cockfosters to Heathrow in August.
What happens next
TfL has planned more Piccadilly line works. According to its published schedule of planned closures, there will be no service between Hammersmith and both Heathrow and Uxbridge on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November, Night Tube included.
TfL's upgrade schedule also lists more closures in the new year, including the weekend of Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 January 2027.
Passengers can check the latest service information and closure dates on the TfL website or the TfL Go app before they travel.
