Police officers stopped delivery riders and other road users on Field End Road in Eastcote on the afternoon of Thursday 8 October.
Footage shared with UB1UB2 shows a marked Metropolitan Police car pulled up at the kerb at around 5pm. Several officers can be seen on the pavement, with riders standing next to their mopeds.
The person who filmed the scene said officers were checking documents. They said police stopped delivery riders and also other people riding past.
What is and isn't confirmed
The Metropolitan Police has not said publicly why the checks were carried out, whether they were part of a planned operation, or whether anyone was arrested or any vehicles were seized.
The stops took place on the stretch of Field End Road lined with shops, cafés and takeaways, a busy part of Eastcote's town centre where delivery riders often collect orders.
Checks on riders across London
Checks on delivery riders usually look at whether a rider has a valid driving licence and insurance, whether the vehicle is roadworthy, and whether the rider has the right to work in the UK. Riders found without insurance or a licence can have their vehicles seized.
The Met has run a number of operations against illegal e-bikes and e-scooters across the capital over the past year. Police and the Home Office have also carried out national operations against illegal working in the food delivery sector, and Hillingdon has been among the areas where arrests were made.
Eastcote is covered by the Met's Eastcote Safer Neighbourhoods Team, part of the Hillingdon policing area. The team sets local priorities based on residents' concerns and publishes them on the Met Police website, along with details of ward panel meetings and contact events.
