Car overturns and catches fire near Cowley Recreation Ground in Uxbridge
Firefighters went to a residential road in Cowley on Friday night after a car ended up on its side and caught fire. Traffic queued in both directions while they dealt with it.
A car was found on its side and on fire in the middle of a road near Cowley Recreation Ground in Uxbridge on the evening of Friday 9 October.
Footage shared with UB1UB2, filmed at about 9.15pm, shows the overturned car burning close to houses. There is debris across the road and a fire engine is already there.
The person who filmed the scene said the car crashed and flipped over before it caught fire. The emergency services have not confirmed this account.
Traffic held back
Pictures from the scene show blue lights and smoke rising from the burning car further down the road. A line of cars had stopped behind it.
A person in a high-visibility jacket could be seen standing in the road at a bend, some distance from the fire, as traffic waited. Drivers travelling through Cowley that evening were advised to avoid the area if they could.
It is not yet known how long the road stayed closed or when it reopened.
